Based on the theory of linguistic relativity, learning a lot of English is a huge part of the English-American culture around the world, which itself has a positive dimension, such as increasing arousal and cultural intelligence and negative consequences such as the alienation of the language learners. The present study is a descriptive-survey study aimed at investigating the role of the English language in identifying students' cultural identity. Five hundred and fifty students responded to two subcategories of foreign languages and other disciplines for measuring cultural intelligence and value alienation. Data analysis using multivariate analysis of variance showed that the performance of language students was one of the components of cultural intelligence in two meta-cognitive and motivational components, and among the indicators of value isolation in west-west and literary-artistic orientation was different from the other group. The findings confirm the theories of linguistic imperialism, adaptive cultural identity, and acquired cultural intelligence, in contradiction to the hypothesis of political neutrality in language teaching. Also, based on the results, suggestions are made to planners, curriculum designers and language professors. ER -
