The results of her study show a significant difference between students' and teachers' perception of the role individual multilingualism plays in additional language learning of third or further languages. Furthermore, multilingualism is perceived and valued differently depending on learner's social situation and the prestige of the languages involved. Hu outlines the development of current research, investigating the question: What has happened in the last 10 years? She explicates, how despite vigorous research and theory development in the field of multilingualism and the abundance of important results that bear relevance to the contemporary situation in numerous classrooms, the learning of foreign languages in the school context on the basis of a (more or less acquired) first language and German as a second language still represents a constellation that has been investigated relatively little. Moreover, she touches upon the issues related to curricula and school language policies and raises the question: which forms of multilingualism are actually supported through these policies? Finally, she examines the consequences from the prior discussion on the (in-service) training of foreign language teachers. ", language = "German", url = "http://orbilu.uni.lu/handle/10993/10266", }
